Just a personal opinion here, but I think it's better to have a profile pic for a model, than to have none. I'm not sure what the reasons for your 800*1200 minimum requirement is. The viewports for the models on the model page are set to 400*600. So unless there's another reason, any reasonable image that meets this criteria should be acceptable.
If there are other reasons, and you have to be strict about it, then please implement some sort of pre-filter for suggesting model profile pics. Some older sets will contain no suitable photo. It's rather pointless looking through a whole set of reasonably sized photos only to get them rejected because I didn't inspect the image attributes beforehand.

I'm not sure what the reasons for your 800*1200 minimum requirement is.
We are working on a face recognition system, and need high quality model images with the model looking directly into the camera in order to properly match faces.
Getting a proper image for every model will be a lot of work, but it will also greatly improve our site.
